Iran confirms missile attack on US military bases in Iraq
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for the missile attack against United States forces in Irag.
Two US military base, the Al Asad and Erbil bases were attacked early morning Wednesday in retaliation for the killing of Iranian military commander, Qassem Soleimani, on Friday.
Iranian state television also released video of what it says is a ballistic missile attack launched at Unites States military forces in Iraq.
The Pentagon has confirmed that missiles were launched from Iran and targeted at least two Iraqi military bases hosting US military and coalition personnel at Al-Asad and Erbil.
The attack came days after the US confirmed it killed Qassem Suleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds force. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards claim the attack was retaliation ‘in the name of Suleimani’ for his death.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said that the missile attacks is part of an operation named “Martyr Soleimani” in retaliation for the killing of military commander, Qassem Soleimani, on Friday.
It also said that any country housing US troops could be subject to “hostile and aggressive acts”.
President Trump had said the US would strike back without hesitation if one of its bases was hit.
