BREAKING: Ekiti University Worker Sacked By Fayemi Dies the disengaged staff of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, Mr Tope Olaiya, has died. 


 

Olaiya, who was said to be leader of those employed in 2016 among the disengaged staff, died at the State University Teaching Hospital,  few minutes ago.

He was said to have died of complications arising from low blood pressure, having been unable to take care of his health.

Prof Eddy Olanipekun, under whose tenure as Vice Chancellor, over 1,000 workers of the university were sacked will be one year in office tomorrow.

In December 2019, EKSU had sacked over 1000 workers after a staff audit exercise.

Most affected were workers employed between 2016 and 2018.

The spokesperson of the university, Bode Olofinmuagun, announced the development in a statement after a meeting of the university’s Governing Council.

Some of the affected workers went to the Industrial Court in Akure,  Ondo State to challenge their disengagement and the matter is still pending.
